Waitin’ on Spring
Welcome to our new website!
We have been waiting for winter to be over, this season has been long and hard. However, as I write this post it’s 25 degrees outside and I can hear the wind blowing. Let’s hope the old saying is right and March goes out like a lamb.
Here’s a list of projects to complete around the farm:
- Move chickens to pasture.
- Build summer home for rabbits
- Build a “tractor” for meat chickens
- Prep for pigs!
- Plan and plant the garden
- Fix the electric in the garage
- Start on the perimeter fence
- Clean up around the farm
- Will trade eggs for labor
A quick farm update:
- Two weeks ago I (Tyler) attended the WV Small Farm Conference in Morgantown hosted by WVU Extension. It was a great experience meeting fellow WV farmers and learning from a lot of experts. Separate blog post on the conference coming soon!
- The hens did great this winter and we are getting a lot of eggs.
- We are hoping for baby rabbits next month. Be sure to follow us for future cute baby bunny pictures.
- The last weekend in February we attended the 40th Annual Worley Garner Festival in Morgantown. We reunited with old friends and played on stage for the first time in nearly a year! It was great to play and for the boys to get exposed to so much bluegrass and old time music.
That sums up our winter.
